Tags and Labels
The Standard AS/NZS 3760:2010 has the following requirements for tagging the equipment once testing has been completed:
FOR FAILED EQUIPMENT:
‘2.4.1 Non-compliant equipment. Where in-service inspection or testing identifies equipment which fails to comply with the criteria given in this Standard, the equipment shall be appropriately labelled to indicate that the equipment requires remedial action and warn against further use. Such equipment shall be withdrawn from service. The choice of remedial action, disposal or other corrective action shall be determined by the owner or the person responsible for the safety of the site 21 where the equipment is used.’
NOTE: We recommend that where an appliance fails that the tag is placed over the plug and that a plan be decided upon how to deal with unsafe appliances so that they are removed from use.
FOR PASSED EQUIPMENT:
‘2.4.2 Compliant equipment following testing, compliant equipment shall be fitted with a durable, non-reusable, non-metallic tag or other indicator. Special techniques shall not be required to identify the equipment. NOTE – This shall not preclude tags from also bearing a code to facilitate electronic data collection.

Use of Different Coloured Tags
Using different coloured tags can be useful in identifying different testing time frames or testing rounds. Changing colours means that out-of-date tags are easily identifiable.
NOTE: If the appliance is made up of a number of pieces, then a tag for each part is required. i.e. a jug and detachable cord.
