Test And Tag Training in Wellington
AS/NZ 3760:2022 in Person 1 Day Course
This course teaches people (often including electricians) how to test and tag electrical items correctly and safely and how to operate the test equipment which will normally be a PAT tester. It also teaches regulatory requirements such as record keeping, tag information and who can do what etc.
Legally to test in accordance with AS/NZS3760 (known as the test and tag Standard) you do not need to be electrically registered, but you do need to be deemed competent in order to test and tag. It is the aim of this course to make people competent and the course includes theory and practical, along with an assessment which contains theory and practical testing using a PAT (Portable Appliance Tester). PATs are available our Wellington course, or you can bring your own if you already own one. If you are looking at purchasing a Portable Appliance Tester for your Wellington branch, school or as a sole tradie, we recommend you don’t purchase before a course, that way you can discuss what your needs are with our experienced trainers and see what others on the course are using.
You are not required to do any training, but in today’s world it would, we believe, be incredibly unwise to accredit yourself or a colleague as competent based on your knowledge. The Standard puts a lot of emphasis on the ‘responsible person’ having deemed the ‘competent person’ competent. We believe that this ‘responsible person’ needs protection and likewise the competent person. Attending our Wellington course ensures you are doing testing correctly and safely.
Very few people know all the necessary information about testing and tagging, and this includes electrical workers, unless they have had training. Under current H & S legislation companies and organisations also need to minimise their liability and this can be done by having professional training from experienced providers such as Metrotest.
All our trainers are full time working in the industry and do not just have head knowledge, but ‘rubber on the road’ knowledge. So, if you want to test your own electrical items this course is for you.
On passing the course all attendees are given a Photo ID Licence and Competency Certificate – what’s more there is a lifetime of support available from people who are dedicated to the industry.
Courses are one-day and no electrical background is required. Metrotest have been running these courses since 1998 and operate a nationwide test and tag service so we don’t believe our friendly helpful team can be beaten on knowledge and experience. We believe in doing it right and that’s what we will teach you.
It’s easy to book your Wellington training, either through our website by selecting Metrotest’s Wellington course and selecting the available date. Alternatively, give us a call on 0800 638 768 and we will be happy to get you or others enrolled over the phone.
